GreatSchools.org recognized Summit High School as a public high school that is doing an outstanding job of preparing graduating seniors for postsecondary success.  We were selected as one of these outstanding schools across 9 states in 2017/18!

SHS is ranked as one of U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools 2016/17

SHS Receives Governor's Award for Distinguished Improvement

Summit High School earned the prestigious Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award, given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth.   SHS “exceeded” expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth and achieved a “meets or exceeds” expectations on the indicator scale related to academic growth gaps. SHS was one of 8 high schools in the State of Colorado to receive this coveted growth award for exceeding expectations for the 3rd straight year on the State’s Performance Framework. SHS HOUGH!

In addition, Summit School District was officially awarded an “Accredited with Distinction” rating from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), the highest rating given to school districts. This rating is based on the district’s performance in student academic achievement, academic growth, the reduction in academic growth gaps between student groups, and postsecondary and workforce readiness. This is the first time Summit School District has earned an accreditation rating higher than, “Accredited.”

Finally, Summit School District received the English Language Proficiency Act (ELPA) Excellence Award for the district’s outstanding work in English language development. SSD was identified as a result of 2014 student performance in language acquisition growth, academic growth and academic achievement as measured by the annual state mandated language and academic assessments. This award was given to only 10 districts and 10 charter schools statewide.
